BURRITO BURGERS! Not only it one of the best homemade burgers recipes on the internet....but its a VEGAN burger recipe too! Can you imagine all of those gorgeous burrito flavours, packed into a burger?? Well you don't have to imagine any more, with such an easy plant based recipe, you can conjure one up and get your choppers around one yourself. If you have a vegan diet, looking for yummy veggie recipes, a plant based snack idea or just wanting to eat more plants... The BOSH! Burrito burger is a great choice to cook for friends or family. These burgers are super delicious, easy to make and have all the fantastic tasting ingredients that a burrito would have.

Ingredients

For the patties

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp chipotle paste
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp ground almonds
  • 2 clove garlic cloves
  • ½ tbsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ tbsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 1 250g bag of microwavable brown rice
  • 200g breadcrumbs
  • 1 white onion finely chopped
  • 240g black beans drained
  • 1 x 240g can of black beans drained

To serve

  • 4 burger buns halved
  • guacamole - homemade or shop-bought
  • salsa
  • iceberg lettuce
  • plant-based grated cheese
  • nachos
  • oven fries

Before you start

Frying pan | Food processor

Step 1

Making the patties

  • Warm the olive oil in a pan, add the onions and fry for 5-6 minutes
  • Add the garlic and fry for 1 minutes
  • Add the chipotle paste, cumin, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, maple syrup, salt and pepper to the pan and stir it into the onions
  • Pour the brown rice, 200g of the black beans, bread crumbs and ground almonds into the pan and stir them into the onions

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp chipotle paste
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp ground almonds
  • 2 clove garlic cloves
  • ½ tbsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ tbsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 1 250g bag of microwavable brown rice
  • 200g breadcrumbs

Step 2

Blend the ingredients

  • Pour the contents of the pan into the food processor and blitz it to a thick batter
  • Pour the burger batter into mixing bowl and fold in the remaining black beans
  • Taste the batter and season to perfection
  • Shape the batter into burger patties

Step 3

Fry the burgers

  • Warm some olive oil in a pan over a medium heat and fry the burgers on both sides until they’re cooked through

Step 4

Build the burgers

  • Build the burgers with guacamole, dairy free cheese, salsa, broken nachos and iceberg lettuce and serve with fries
