Chilli Silken Tofu

Spice up your tofu game this weekend with this quick and super delicious tofu recipe. Scored and topped with a spicy chilli sauce that brings sticky soy vibes its then finished with a fresh cucumber and chilli sauce.

Ingredients

For the Silken Tofu

  • 1 block of silken tofu
  • 2 spring onions
  • ½ cucumber
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 10g fresh ginger
  • ½ tbsp crispy chilli oil
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp white sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp black sesame seeds

Before you start

Frying Pan

Step 1

Prepare the veg

  • Finely chop the spring onions, separating the white and green parts
  • Slice the cucumber in half lengthways and scoop out the watery flesh
  • Finely dice the rest of the cucumber
  • Peel and mince the garlic and ginger

Ingredients

  • 2 spring onions
  • ½ cucumber
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 10g fresh ginger

Step 2

Cook the chilli sauce

  • Heat a frying pan over a medium heat with the sesame oil
  • Add the white parts of the spring onion, garlic, ginger and chilli toast for 1 minute until fragrant
  • Add the brown sugar, rice wine vinegar and soy sauce and bring to a simmer for 2 minutes to reduce until slightly thickened
  • Take off the heat and stir through the green parts of the onion and sesame seeds

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp white sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp black sesame seeds

Step 3

Assemble and serve

  • Drain the tofu from the liquid and place on kitchen paper to remove extra moisture
  • Transfer to a plate and slice
  • Spoon over the chilli sauce and garnish with cucumber and crispy onions to serve
