Crispy smoked tofu coated in five spice, soy, and maple goodness meets slurp-worthy noodles, crunchy carrots, and fresh spring onions, all topped off with chilli crisp, toasted sesame seeds, and optional kimchi. Quick, easy, and seriously tasty.

For the Noodles

<item-todo-done>2 tbsp sesame oil<item-todo-done><item-todo-done>1 block of smoked tofu<item-todo-done><item-todo-done>2 tbsp Chinese 5 spice<item-todo-done><item-todo-done>20g nutritional yeast<item-todo-done><item-todo-done>2 tbsp soy sauce<item-todo-done><item-todo-done>2 tsp maple syrup<item-todo-done><item-todo-done> small bunch of spring onions<item-todo-done><item-todo-done>2 large carrots<item-todo-done><item-todo-done>2 bags of ramen noodles<item-todo-done>


To Serve

Before you start

Box grater | Kettle boiled | Wok | Saucepan | Julienne Peeler | Colander | Ladle

Prepare the ingredients

  • Grate the tofu with the coarse side of the box grater
  • Trim the spring onions and finely slice at a sharp angle
  • Peel the the carrot into ribbons with the Julienne peeler
  • Get a pan of water on the boil

Prepare the tofu

  • Warm the sesame oil in the pan over high heat
  • Add the grated tofu and fry, stirring occasionally for 2 minutes
  • Add the Chinese Five Spice and Nutritional Yeast to the pan and fry for a further 2 minutes
  • Add the soy sauce and maple syrup, fold to combine and reduce the heat slightly

Prepare the noodles

  • Add the noodles to the saucepan and cook according to packet instructions

Finish and Serve

  • Add the noodles, flavour sachets and spring onion whites to the tofu (saving some green slices for garnish) combine
  • Add the carrots and half a ladle of the noodle water to the pan and stir to combine
  • Taste and a little more soy sauce if you think the noodles need it
  • Use tongs to transfer the contents of the pan to serving bowls
  • Drizzle over a little chilli crisp
  • Garnish with the sesame seeds and reserved spring onions
  • Add a little kimchi to the bowl (if using) and serve immediately
