"Perfect" is a wildly overused term, so please believe us when we tell you sincerely that this is the perfect porridge recipe. Big claim? You betcha. It takes no time at all and tastes phenomenal. Porridge provides lots of fibre, slow-releasing carbs and is rich in minerals including copper, iron and manganese. It's even been proven to prevent blood sugar spikes because of the low glycemic index of oats. Which is all excellent news. We top ours with loads of healthy ingredients to take it to the next level of awesomeness.

For the porridge

<item-todo-done>50g rolled oats<item-todo-done><item-todo-done>150ml unsweetened plant-based milk<item-todo-done><item-todo-done>½ tsp cinnamon<item-todo-done><item-todo-done> Pinch of salt<item-todo-done>


For the toppings

<item-todo-done>2 tbsp peanut butter - or almond butter<item-todo-done><item-todo-done>1 tsp mixed seeds<item-todo-done><item-todo-done>1 tbsp ground flax<item-todo-done><item-todo-done>1 tsp mixed dried fruit<item-todo-done><item-todo-done>1 banana<item-todo-done>

Before you start

Saucepan

For the banana

  • Peel and cut the banana up into slices

Cook the oats

  • Put the oats in a saucepan with the milk, cinnamon and salt
  • Put the saucepan on the stove over a low heat and stir with a wooden spoon for 4-6 minutes until the porridge is smooth and creamy (add more milk if needs be)

Time to serve

  • Transfer the porridge to a bowl, sprinkle over the toppings and eat immediately (before the three bears show up)
